    1. Gina Strole

I bought this coffee maker after having a Keurig for many years. I wanted something that would last longer as we had had issues with the Keurig.
At first. We liked the coffee maker
It heated well, but it seemed to take a long time to brew, and it was a bit noisy. It is easy to use, easy to clean, and fill with water. It made a single cup of coffee which we like.

After about 8 months, it started brewing different sizes all on its own. I thought at first I had bumped the buttons. We had not. The buttons stopped responding. We could mess with it and eventually get it to go to the 12 oz but would default back to the 4oz.

We put up with it for a bit and decided to look up the warranty and realized it had a 3-year warranty. I was surprised and sent customer service an email.

It took them forever to get back to me.
Then we started a process that has taken over 4 weeks to get through as they have MANY steps that they don’t tell you upfront to get to the point where they finally send out a new unit.

I still haven’t received my replacement and the final step before they will issue a new unit is to cut the cord of your old unit and send a picture.

I am now without a coffee maker until they ship out a new unit. It days 7 to 10 working days, but I am not hopeful that it will show up on time As everything else they have done has taken weeks to get through.

I am not sure where I stand on Buying another coffee maker from Cuisinart as it has been a pain in the @$$ to get a replacement.
Very unsatisfied with the process of warranty work.

      Update.

A new one was delivered. It took a while to get here. I had read that some people got a different model. We received the same one as a replacement. So far it’s working great.

I felt compelled to write a review because as I was reading some other reviews, I felt like some are nitpicking at details that, in the long run, shouldn’t dramatically impact your coffee making experience with this machine.

I purchased my first Cuisinart single serve coffee maker about 5 years ago – upgraded after many years of keurig brand single serve makers mostly because I am bougie and wanted my coffee maker to match my other Cuisinart countertop appliances. But also, I have trust in the Cuisinart name. The only reason I decided to get a new one is because I use my single serve basically every single day and I am lazy and didn’t descale/clean my maker as consistently as I should have. The build-up eventually will become noticeable as your coffee flavors get dulled and, by that point, there’s only so much you can do to try to give it a good cleaning. So first piece of advice, clean ya coffee maker.

I got this second one while it was on sale for a terrific price although at the “normal” price as it is without a sale is still less than what I recall paying those years ago.

The various options of settings is what makes this a *chef’s kiss* product for me. I love that I can set this to: turn on and off at the times I want; use a default cup size (12 oz for me) ; and temp. It is ready to go from the minute it turns on, starting right up and brewing that pod immediately. Some reviews mention that it’s loud, it splashes, it continues to drip after it finishes brewing. I don’t find this machine super loud at all, it does make a low-level whirring, whooshing sound, but it’s a machine, I don’t expect it to be silent. It will splash back a bit on the machine as it brews, but again, it’s brewing liquid into a cup, splashing is going to happen. The dripping after brewing seems normal, a few drips to finish off the brewing cycle, leave your cup there for an extra 5 seconds and you’ll capture those drips. Be gentle when you are opening/closing the pod holder part … an easy push down will still pierce the top and hopefully prevent it from blowing out a big hole that winds up spreading coffee grounds everywhere.

Yes, I do have an issue using travel mugs with this machine – it’s the one drawback that I will absolutely concede is a con to this product. None of my standard travel size containers will fit under the brewing mechanism. Your only option is to brew into a regular coffee mug and then pour that into your travel cup – annoying, but I have done this a more than a few occasions.

I try to use the reusable pod for the majority of my brewing (that reusable pod is included) to reduce on waste. For my overall, day-to-day, needs this maker totally does the job.

There were many considerations to purchase the Cuisinart SS-10 Premium Single Serve having owned a self grinding machine for 15yrs., but not the only factor in considering other brands. Did a lot of research before purchasing. Have low cabinets & this unit is the shortest in it’s class. Easier to directly fill the reservoir with out removing, as well lifting the brew head with plenty of clearance to place coffee capsule. Pleasant blue led buttons & control panel that is easy to see & understand. A previous major brand had a poor visual screen that we struggled reading until over time memorized settings with not really being able to see them well. A complete pain especially for guest. Appearance not bulky, great design eye appeal, combination of silver, black chrome. Others dull black. Simple note: the water reservoir blue led soft hue makes the water appear pleasantly pure & the use of charcoal filter for those who don’t use distilled water. Noticed in reviews about splashing on counter not uncommon on many competitors. Yes it did if your cup is pushed all the way to the back. Solved 99% by pulling to front edge of drip plate dispersing beverage center of cup. Size, Beautiful Appearance, Readable LED Panel, Simple Symbols & Ease Of Use, Accessible Hidden Reusable Filter Compartment. Easy Self Clean Flow Thru, Timers, Safety Features, Sturdy Construction, Low Priced Premium Unit & Most of All A great Cup Of Java. We feel They are steps ahead of competition. Would like to see Cuisinart add a raised cup platform similar to what Hamilton Beach did raising the cup closer to drip nozzle or some other great idea always meeting the challenge. Cuisinart once again has not disappointed putting a lot of thought into customer use. Thank You!

I purchased this unit on October 15, 2022. Today is June 23, 2024. About four or five cups of coffee have been brewed daily since I received the unit. So far I have not had any issues.

      ***** QUALITY *****

Some reviewers compared this model SS-10P to an older similar Cuisinart model SS-700 (discontinued) stating the older model is built better. I have been on this planet quite a few years and agree “they don’t make em like the used to”. IMHO this applies to most small kitchen appliances whether the brand is Cuisinart, Keurig, ACME or whoever. With that being said my review is based on what is available in today’s market

I purchased this Cuisinart SS-10P to replace a Keurig Slim that was on it’s second warranty replacement. The Keurig Slim was purchased to replace an older working Keurig to save counter space.

One deciding feature for my purchase is the three year warranty and U.S. based support (I think) available by voice call. I called Cuisinart regarding another appliance and I asked the agent if he was U.S. Based. He replied yes.

      ***** FEATURES *****

The features are basic. Brewing temperatures, auto shut off, auto power up (based on time set), clock, 4, 8, 10 and 12 ounce cups, hot water only, time to descale notice. There is no brew strength setting.

      ***** BREWING AND NOISE *****

As other reviewers have stated the brew time is slower than some other coffee makers. I agree. In my opinion the faster the brew the weaker the coffee, the slower the brew the stronger the coffee. Maybe the brew speed is a compromise.

I agree the brewing process is louder than other coffee makers. For my personal preference this does not bother me at all. How loud is too loud is subjective.

The select brew size is reasonably accurate. I ran a hot water only 12 oz. The amount of water measured was about 13 oz. See attached photo number 1. If a coffee pod was being brewed some of the water would have been soaked up by the coffee grounds.

      ***** MAINTENANCE *****

I don’t baby my Cuisinart. I have been waiting on the descale notice to appear before descaling the unit. Today after descaling I decided to descale once per month in the future and not wait for the descale notice to appear. The Cuisinart manual hints at not waiting on the descale notice. This may add little more to the life of the unit.

Cuisinart says to use 20 oz vinegar mixed with 40 of water to descale the unit. I heave been doing this. No problems. I use store brand vinegar which is literally dirt cheap compared to some coffee maker manufactures who recommend their branded pricey descale solution.

I purchased the Cuisinart filters (two pack) just once. I no longer use their pricey filters or a third party cheaper filter (lower quality?). I use filtered tap water for brewing. Yes, I agree filters may help. It’s just my personal choice.

My only real complaint is cleaning the area under the “pod holder”. See photo number 3 with the holder removed. Over time some loose grounds will find it’s way to this hidden area. I can get just one finger into this area from the top. I used two methods to clean. (1) A wet paper towel wrapped around my finger. (2) Let completely dry and use a small brush to sweep the grounds out of the bottom hole (pod holder removed). I am dinging one star because of this design.

      ***** CONCLUSION *****

My personal requirement is a basic reliable coffee maker. I use the auto shut off feature, the brew size and hot water only feature. I don’t use the other features. I am not a picky coffee drinker. Overall this Cuisinart unit works for me.

Approximately 12 years ago before the Christmas holidays, Keurig flooded the TV air waves with commercials for their new K cup pod coffee maker that quickly brewed one cup of coffee. I liked the concept but never heard of Keurig and had no idea who they were or if they were a legitimate company or merely a scam so I didn’t buy their coffee maker.
On January 5, 2011 I was shopping in Costco and saw a Cuisinart K cup coffee maker. Having a Cuisinart food processor, can opener, toaster and conventional coffee maker I was familiar with the company
and the fine quality of their products. It used the K pods that the other company’s coffee maker used. It was love at first site and I bought the Cuisinart SS780PC coffee maker for $164.99. I loved that coffee maker and used her to pleasure myself every day and some days two, three and more times a day. We’ll here it is 11+ years later and she started to wear out from old age. The pump was sluggish and would no longer pump out a full 12 ounce mug of coffee. I sip and savor every one of those perfectly brewed 12 ounces of coffee. So I felt let me buy the current Cuisinart replacement for the model SS780PC I presently had and I went directly to Amazon and found the SS10 Cuisinart coffee maker and bought it immediately for $139.95. I was impressed with the voluminous number of 5 star reviews and I never pay any mind to an occasional 1 or 2 star review. Negative people write negative reviews and attempt to punish the manufacturer for mishaps caused by their own ignorance. Case in point splashing on the counter top. Possibly Sir Issac Newton could explain it better but if common sense prevailed there would be no splashing on the counter top. When a liquid drips from a higher point down to a standing liquid at a lower point the drops that are standing will splash up from being hit by the falling drops from above, especially if you use a shallow low sided tea cup. If a couple drops splash wipe it up with a paper towel, it’s not the fault of Cuisinart and it’s no big deal. Certainly not rocket science but basic rules of gravity. This new model does not have the blue light illuminatIng the water reservoir when water is low and has two heat settings HOT and VERY HOT rather than multiple degree settings. The engineers at Cuisinart realized these two features are not critical and designed a much better coffee maker for a $25 lower price eleven years after their original model was manufactured I loved my SS780PC but will have a torrid romance with this SS10. It is well designed and attractive, aesthetically adds to the beauty of my custom designed and handsomely decorated gourmet kitchen. I turn it on and immediately the open head icon illuminates, I put in a
K pod and in less than one minute I’m sipping a 12 ounce mug of freshly brewed delicious and satisfying coffee. On top of that Cuisinart gives you a three year warranty. Talk about a manufacturer having faith in their product’s quality. I’m so glad I was skeptical years ago and never bought a Keurig. My old Cuisinart gave me 11 years of faithful service and I’m looking forward to a very long and enjoyable relationship with my new SS10.
If you’re looking to buy a K pod single serve coffee brewer, don’t waste any more time looking. BUY this one it looks great, represents EXCELLENT VALUE, will brew you an EXCELLENT CUP OF COFFEE in a minute, is covered by Cuisinart’s 3 year warranty and Amazon will deliver it to your front door. GREAT PRICE, GREAT VALUE, GREAT SERVICE who could ask for more.

I bought two of these coffee makers in 2018 and they are both still in constant use. One is at my home and the other is at the office. Both have been used as primary coffee makers. You can use a k-cup or your own ground coffee via the adapter contained within the machine. I like the hot water feature for tea, hot chocolate, hot toddies, etc…It can pour 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 oz cups. Once you insert the K-cup, select your size of pour, and hit Brew, the coffee will start pouring with no wait to heat up the water.

The fact that this machine has survived for six years in an office with constant use proves how durable it is.

For maintenance purposes, the machine will tell you when it is time to descale. When that happens, just follow the instructions in the manual and you’re good for another several months. Keep up on that and change out the charcoal filter every month or so and it will not let you down.

I highly recommend this coffee maker for anyone wanting a versatile single serve K-cup machine.

The only reason why I give it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it could be so much better if it featured Keurig’s multi-stream technology. The difference is the Cuisinart will punch one hole on top of the K-cup to inject the hot water while the multi-stream technology will punch several. I’ve brewed cups from my Cuisinart and compared them to the same cups made out of a Keurig with the multi-stream tech and the difference was striking. Striking enough to justify a $200+ purchase of a machine not nearly as versatile or possibly durable? That’s for you to decide. We had one of those Keurig supreme machines at work and it lasted less than a year.

I have used a Keurig for years and decided to switch it up. This coffee maker is fine. It does make nice hot coffee, and the coffee seems to be stronger than with the keurig. It is easy to use and the on / off feature works great. The things I don’t love: It is sort of loud. The tray at the bottom vibrates. I have tried to make it more secure so it doesn’t rattle and have not been successful. The motor is louder than the Keurig too. I also think the mechanism to put the pods in is loud when you close it. It’s sort of clunky. So overall, it does its job and makes hot coffee that tastes good.

My husband and I have owned a number of Keurig machines, every one of which crapped out after a couple of years. When our 3rd Keurig bit the dust I decided it was time to give up the brand and go for something else. The reviews for this one were good so I took a chance and am glad I did. It has a bigger water tank than our old Keurig. There is an adapter if you want to use K-cups, but we like the reusable mesh coffee basket. I love that there’s a setting for extra hot, as well as a selector for multiple cup sizes. The reusable coffee holder is deep enough that you can make a nice strong cup of coffee even if you’re using a large travel mug. The ONLY complaint I have after owning it for a few months is that when brewing, the machine is pretty loud. Other than that we’re very satisfied with this Cuisinart coffee maker. Would definitely recommend.

    10. JDR

I have had only Keurig brand single serve machines thus far. The OG one lasted for years before it failed. The more recent generation will not last. Such was the case with my most recent K-Supreme Plus. Like the form factor, looks, and performance. All comparable with this Cuisinart. Unfortunately, that unit died and wouldn’t power up 1 year in. Rather than accept yet another one, I chose to re-invest in this Cuisinart unit. My grind and brew maker has been running for 6 years… The one before that 10 years.
I just received this unit. So far so good! Looks good, runs good. Menu button is a little prominent and easy to confuse with ‘Brew’ as the typeface of the buttons is not illuminated, just the bezel is lit. If you’re tired of your Keurig quality, hop on and give this a try. That’s what I did.
