Each apartment in my building has its own heat pump; the building circulates super-heated water in winter and chilled water in the summer. After 16 years in this apartment, I know when the heat pump is not functioning correctly. Unfortunately, in the past, the HVAC vendor has often dismissed my claims stating that “you’re on the top floor with big windows and skylights. The heat pump just can’t keep up.” They would sometimes show readings from their temperature gun to prove their point. When they show me the temperature from the bathroom exhaust fan (nothing to do with the heat pump), I decided to invest in my own temperature gun. As soon as I started to submit readings to the property manager, the HVAC team returned…and fixed the heat pump. This is a great, handy, inexpensive, and easy tool to use!

This worked good to determine if my cat was bad on the car. With the help of this little device I was able to save a ton of money replacing a cat that wasn’t actually bad. (Trouble code for a bad cat or 02 sensor) It was a quick way to determine that is was probably not bad. The temp before the cat should be lower than the temp after the cat when the car is hot. Also it can measure water temp by shooting it at the water. Things to note about this. It does not measure internal temps. You cannot use it on humans or pets. You cannot shine it on a reflective surface like glass. Even still it seems to measure accurately for surface temps. Super easy to use. Just point it and go. Very helpful.

Works great and seems to be very accurate. Very good product.

So this works for its intended purpose. And for some unintended purposes, like annoying your wife and telling her the temperature of every single object in the house while she attempts to work from home and you have the day off. And then, your teenage son realizes how much it annoys mom and decides to pick up the habit when dad is back at work the next day. So, yeah, it works great. It got a lot of use the first week or so we had it. I mean, a lot of use. It’s currently “lost,” and when the males of the house have a legit use for it again, mom will miraculously find it.

The controls and settings work well and are easy to use. Etekcity products are generally worth the money and this one fall into that category.

… And I love this thing!
Last summer I bought this because I was making epoxy kitchen countertops (not as easy as YT might have you think 😬 but… Now I love them). If it could go wrong, it did. Without fail. After the epoxy overheated on the first pour, then sanding it down, I ordered this so I could keep precise track of the state of the chemical reaction.

It worked brilliantly. I knew exactly what was happening to each cup of colored epoxy by just aiming and pulling the trigger. Brilliant!

But then when the counters were finished and installed, I tucked it into the drawer beside the oven thinking maybe I would find another use. I am a baker, so I am constantly checking temps for bread or cakes, etc. Turns out (as I had suspected previously but could not test), my oven’s thermostat is wonky. Sometimes it doesn’t heat to the correct temp but the oven’s digital screen lies to me. Aggravating, yes, but even more so when you don’t know its happening and your sourdough doesn’t spring. This infrared thermometer is also handy for a quick confirmation that your liquid is an optimal temp for yeast to rise, or that your some other ingredient has reached perfect temp to be added to a batter, and so on. Baking is a kind of chemistry, and precision temps are critical, so it turns out i now find this little device to be indispensable in my kitchen.

Finally, i have also used it for other things around the farm too. Quick check that the chick brooder isn’t too hot/cold? Piece of cake. Check how hotsome machinery has become for safety? Easy, fast and you don’t have to risk a burn because you can stand a safe distance away. Suspect someone has a fever, what a simple way to get quick read (though I still prefer internal thermometers for many things). But this device is so simple to just tap the button and read the temp that its incredibly fast. Absolutely indispensable to our household now!

In summary, how did I ever get by without this thermometer? Seriously, I use it constantly! Bought it for a weekend project and now use it almost daily. For the price, this little gadget is totally worth it.

I was melting chocolate the other day for some candy I was making. This worked very well to make sure to talk was at the right temperature. I also had a recipe where I needed a gravy and you once the butter and it was what was it a water and broth mixture reached a certain temperature I was supposed to add the cornstarch Rue mix. It worked very well and the gravy came out perfect. It was very easy to use and I could see the temperature on it easily if I was wearing my glasses

This is perfect for measuring your reptile’s enclosure temps. It’s easy to use, quick to read the temperature, accurate and versatile. A very good product to have around.

I have used it for over a week and it’s accurate and easy to use. Works great for knowing the temperature of the Blackstone grill before cooking. Absolutely no complaints so, far just what I was looking and needed.

This temp gun is very easy to use, and it gives me the same readings as I got from my local HVAC company. I got this to periodically check my air conditioner’s “delta T” – – where I measure the temp coming out out of the cooling vents and going into the filter leading back to the HVAC system. The difference is the “delta T” which should be around 18 degrees F or so for my system. I have also used it for other things. Nice gauge at a very reasonable price. 100% happy. Highly recommended.
