The Breville Bambino Plus is engineered to deliver optimal espresso flavor with every cup. It pre-infuses ground coffee with low, steady water pressure before extraction, gently expanding the grinds before stepping up to high pressure.

I read the reviews and lots of people had good things to say. What no one mentioned was the ability to adjust the volume of water on both your single and double shot espressos. This was a big bonus as I like a bit larger cappuccino. I set it to the maximum temperature and awesome results. Plus I like the height clearance that I can take my espresso straight into my “standard” coffee mug!

The espresso machine is a great purchase with many features, including a milk frother and adjustable milk temperature. It’s user-friendly and can quickly make a good crema. The compact size fits well in my kitchen and the design is sleek. The removable drip tray is a plus. It heats up very fast. It has a portafilter grinder, but lacks a bean grinder. Despite this, I’m keeping it because I loved it from the first brew.

Easy to use and compact. Milk frother is definitely a great feature, although self cleaning tends to splash a bit too much and requires more cleaning than expected.
I only wish it had a way to control temperature as slightly higher than standard temperature is recommended for brewing light roasts.

I am a complete beginner when it comes to preparing Espresso coffee, so I needed a machine that would handhold me through the process and deliver reliable tasty lattes and capuccionos with the occasional americano. We cannot drink caffeinated coffee to so buy decaffienated beans and grind them in a Breville grinder.
Out results have been very good with very clear instructions on how to prepare the grind, tamp down the grind and make sure we are getting the correct extraction time. The milk foamer is very clever and seems to work most of the time. I am not yet experienced enough to do manual foaming but the automated process seems to work well. We like it hot and a lot of foam.
The downsides have the been the odd time that something goes wrong and you have to perform some process to clean or reset the machine. In these circumstances the instructions are not helpful as they do not give you an index based on what the lights are doing. You have to read through the text and eventually find what the particular combination of lights mean. We have had to purge the system twice and the milk wand seems to get blocked despite our efforts to keep it clean. However I once changed the delivery volume for single and double shot (I have no idea how I did this) and I needed to reset it back to default. I ended up in descale mode which does not appear to have an abort mode, so I had to waste a lot of water as it completed the descale mode before I could go in and try the reset process for the delivery volume for the 2 shot sizes. Also I had no idea what amount of water was needed so it overflowed and spilled water everywhere. Tedious. So in conclusion:
Pros:
1. Compact and well made.
2. Delivers consistent coffee.
3. Milk foaming is good and works well.
4. Great for an inexperienced barista such as myself.
Cons:
1. Instructions poor when things go wroing (various flashing lights etc.)
2. Delivery volume reset process seems prone to error (I am a computer engineer so am familiar with pressing combinations of keys to get things to happen but I had a lot of trouble getting it to reset).
3. Milk wand is prone to blocking and I became quite familiar with removing the nozzle, cleaning it and then purging.
4. No reset (that I could find) once it is in the descale mode.
5. No overall reset to factory default that we could find. Once it is in a particular mode you seem to need to ensure that you complete whatever it thinks you are doing.
Overall a great entry level machine and produces a great cup of coffee.

This sub 500 dollar espresso machine hits way above its weight. It will produce a very good shot of espresso and (manually) allow you to create great microfoam for milk drinks. Great for a starter machine or those with limited kitchen / counter space who want a decent machine in a small footprint.

They skimped on the materials for the basket. How can you use plastic for an espresso machine. Can’t wait to get a better machine.

After doing some research, I decided to buy the Breville Bambino Plus Espresso Machine. The sleek design of this espresso machine caught my eye and I was amazed by how easy it was to use. However, it lacks a built-in grinder which would have been quite handy. Nonetheless, it is a wonderful appliance that has made my mornings much more exciting!

I LOVE the Breval brand but was disappointed in this little guy. It tips easy and doesn’t have much weight to the unit. You have to hold the machine and try to put the coffee bask on at the same time. Not fun. Sent it back

So far I have enjoyed this espresso machine, it’s been nothing short of a caffeine-lover’s dream. The reliability of this machine is outstanding, it produces good crema and heats up quickly! However, I do wish it had more brewing options and came with a friendlier price tag. And yes, it can get a bit messy at times, but then again, isn’t that part of the fun? All things considered, this machine is a solid performer in the realm of home brewing!
