I’ve had (much) more expensive toasters and (much) less expensive toasters and none of them consistently toasted as evenly as this one. Perfect toast every single time – for four years and counting. I don’t know if it’s this model or if every once in a while one comes off the line that just has all the heating elements in the right place. I miss the bagel setting on my previous toasters that allowed me to just toast one side. But in the end it’s all about an even piece of toast, isn’t it?

I’ve decided that a single factory in China makes all of the toasters sold that are shaped like this. I previously bought (and returned) a “made in China” BUYDEEM and returned in for the same reason. Neither toaster can toast a bagel as many Americans expect – toasting only on the cut side. Looking at the fine print, I learned that the Chinese manufacturers think it means toast it longer than the setting chosen – on both sides. Beyond that issue, the metal parts are all thin and the controls are loose, like a poorly made children’s toy. I decide to keep this toaster because, after looking for a long time, I didn’t find another that got better reviews at any price.

Like the ability to toast four pieces of bread or bagels at the same time

It works great, outside (sides) stays cool and won’t burn you, has fairly even browning but the bottom half gets a bit more brown than the top half which is a problem with ALL toasters, even the $500 ones. The knobs feel extremely cheap so I’m sure they will be the first thing to break, but you can easily epoxy them back in place with 5-minute 2-part epoxy when that happens. This was the best good functioning toaster I could find for under $50 and it has been working great every day for over 6mos so far using it for home made bread, bagels, and even frozen hashbrown patties which require 3 toasting cycles, turing them over and/or around each cycle to get more even browning.

Product toasts well so far and is attractive on kitchen counter. My only concern is the levers to depress the bread for toasting seem very flimsy like depressing a little harder might cause them to break.

I love the look, it looks great in my kitchen. Toasts evenly and love that I can toast 4 slices at a time

This toaster is very cheaply made and is not indicative of what Cuisinart products used to stand for. You can feel its cheapness in all aspects.
1. Knobs spin wayyyyy too easily. I’ve tapped them not realizing multiple times, burning my bread.
2. Bagel setting does nothing! It toasts on both sides.
3. The listing states the slots are a wide 1.5 inches. This is true, however, the spring loaded cage inside the slots do not expand any more than 1.25 inches. This means you have to push your bagels or hamburger buns down. That in itself is no big deal, but they subsequently burn easily as the bread is too close to the heating element.
4. It does not toast evenly so the bread has to be flipped half way through. The sample pictures show how one side is lightly burnt while the other side is fine when not flipped half way.
5. As you can see in the first picture inside the toaster, the heating element heats unevenly. Sometimes the toast comes out fine but other times toast will be burnt in a section and not toast well in another section. It’s hit or miss with this thing.
6. It toasts too quickly so the bread does not toast deep enough, causing the bread to collapse under the weight of a butter knife. So, between flips, I let the toast sit for a minute or two to sit in the residual heat. Then I resume toasting. But I don’t dare walk away!
7. The knobs and levers and buttons and internal components are all creaky and clicky and unreliable. It screams cheap!
8. The crumb catcher has to be accessed from the back! What?!!! And even worse, it doesn’t even catch half the crumbs so I’m always having to clean them up.
I would value it at $10 and even then, it’s not worth all the annoyances of this product. I wish I had returned it because I feel scammed out of $69. I’ll likely throw it in the “free” box during my next yard sale and get a different brand for half the price.
