I have owner five of these over the years and have given them as gifts. This is the later of models and I find what was meant as improvements are in fact flaws. Attaching the filter cover to the cup by a plastic hinge makes it more difficult to clean and more apt to break. This latest version of the plastic carafe cover is somewhat flimsy and easy to displace both when pouring and inserting into the main body of the brewing assembly. Still no so good is the carafe lip design misdirecting some coffee when pouring into a cup. Still a great product compared with lithe brands of mill and brew coffee makers… I have tried other more costly and sophisticated devices … and still this is my #1 choice.

I received it damaged significantly, but in working order. I called customer service, and spoke with Andrew. He was so polite, and helpful. My concerns were resolved.

Update: this is my third cuisinart grind n brew. While it works perfectly, i have to say that the coffee isn’t very good. My french press coffee tastes a lot better. I hadn’t noticed that with the previous two.

Coming from having a grinder, French press and boiling a kettle on the stove and rarely having the time to do all that, this is luxury. For 2 people, we only make 8 cups with it but max fill the beans in the grinder so it’s about as strong as our French press brews were. Setting it up the night before with beans and water and then rinsing off the components (filter + bowl, grinder + cover, carafe + lid) only takes like 3 minutes each day. The grinder is definitely as loud as our old one, but we set it at the same time as our morning alarms anyway so we’re up.

This is my third Cuisinart Grind & Brew coffeemaker…and I love it. My previous Cuisinart Grind & Brew coffeemaker had the insulated pot, which kept the coffee warm remarkably well, but sometimes did not pour neatly and was a bit of a bother to clean as the neck of the pot was very narrow. It also only made a max of only 10 cups, which when there are more than 2 drinking the coffee often means multiple pots. My new maker has a glass 12-cup pot that pours neatly and is kept warm with the unit’s heated base. The neck is wide and easy to clean. The burr cup does a great job of grinding the whole beans without creating a big mess. The grind basket is large, and unlike my previous maker, it has a flip up top which I rather like. My old unit had a separate top which I now think contributed to the mess and bothersome post brewing clean-up I found with my last G&B coffeemaker. In short, if you are looking at purchasing a Cuisinart Grind & Brew, and are torn between choosing the glass pot or the insulated pot, go for the glass pot. While I have loved all of my Grind & Brews, this one by far is my favorite model.

Some call me a coffee snob…. I beg to differ, i’m simply someone who truly enjoys that one cup of coffee that I drink daily. I’m not a coffee drinker to the point that I drink coffee all day long, simply cannot do that. I have one cup in the morning while I’m getting ready for work.. that’s it! I guess the snobbery comes in because I will only drink one particular brand of coffee, and while I have tried others, I have found that this one satisfies my one cup a day coffee needs 😀 What does this have to do with this coffee maker, you ask? Sit back and relax….

About five years ago I was visiting my niece in florida and she had a Kuerig of course, who didn’t have one at that time or even now right? Anyway, That was all she had. So I purchased pods from my favorite coffee company Caribou (mahogany), and it actually tasted pretty darn good so we decided we were going to break all the coffee snobbery rules and get a keurig coffee maker…. 4 Years later and five keurig’s, we decided we were done and it was time to go back to brewing our own coffee. That being said, I wanted one that gave us the option of grinding whole beans and brewing pre ground coffee…enter the Cuisinart dual brew machine…….

Now who doesn’t love a good French press, and while this is not a French press, it offer similarities in that it grinds the beans fresh in the morning before it brews the coffee! Amazing right? The other great thing about this coffee maker, is that it also brews pre-ground coffee. It has a timer to set it to go off at anytime of the day or night, and the heating pad is programmable to stay on for more than two hours!

So far we are quite happy with this coffee maker

This was a life saver on Thursday, which prompted me to remember to make a review. I forgot to set my alarm for the first time in years and this bad boi woke me up at 7:05. SO with that being said, the grind do be LOUD. Like my neighbors def hate me type of loud. Worse than the early Sunday morning vacuum neighbor kind of loud. But it doesn’t vibrate the whole counter or anything…so maybe your early Sunday morning cleaner will still take the cake. Personally, I wish the grinder had a sensor or something to stop grinding ones the beans are all ground up. It does grind for far too long, and my boyfriend and I have predicted the motor will probably burn out within the year. Thankfully I scored the jackpot of jack of all trades kind of guy because he already said he’s planning on replacing the motor for me when the time comes. It brews fast, the temperature is perfect, the program feature is extremely simple to figure out, and the coffee comes out delightful! I love being able to guy whole bean coffee. If you’re on the fence, dude just send it. Buy it. It’s bomb, and will one day wake you up when you forget to set your alarm in the morning. Your boss will thank you.

This thing randomly overflows, creating a huge mess in the kitchen. You can set it up the exact same way 10 times I a row, and on the 11th, instead of your normal pot of coffee, you’ll wake up to a huge puddle of coffee on the floor, all over the countertop, and running down your cabinets. This coffee maker is absolute junk

    9. NancyK

I love everything about this coffee maker. It’s well made, and having it grind the beans just prior to brewing gives you the freshest possible coffee that you can get at home 🙂

So, I looked for a long time for a coffee maker/grinder combo and landed on this one – I love it but it was overflowing onto the counter as a few others have mentioned.

FINALLY figured it out… the measurements on the side of the water chamber are OFF – if you fill to 12 cups – you will overflow. Learned this by filling the carafe from our Brita Water pitcher and pouring it into the chamber. It comes to 11 cups – NOT 12. So a full coffee carafe poured into the chamber works perfectly, but if you were like me and filling from your Brita Pitcher to 12 – you will overflow every time.

Just wanted to share the info – it should be fixed by Cuisinart, but in the meantime, others can avoid overflow by using the coffee carafe to fill, or only filling to 11 cups.
