We got two electric kettles for Christmas.
One of them was glass, and had blue LEDs in the bottom and looked SO COOL.
My kids dropped it on the floor and broke it in less than a week.
This was the other kettle. It’s not as cool looking, but it’s quick, efficient, it’s been in constant use for four months now, and it’s a lot harder to break. It clicks off automatically if it gets too hot which is nice because we are distractable people.
We are constantly making tea and using the coffee press, so this kettle hardly ever gets a break. It is a workhorse, and is basically perfect.

I have a coffee maker that I’d use every couple of weeks to make tea or cocoa. Using the microwave makes my cup handle uncomfortably hot so I’d use 1 cup to warm my water and another to drink whatever I was making. Both ways just seemed inconvenient and I’ve bought a stovetop kettle that I used twice before I donated it. I can’t give an exact reason why I didn’t like that – but the coffeemaker was my method of choice until I bought this. As much as I hate giving up more counter space to a dedicated appliance, I really think this is worth giving it up. The reviews are correct – this boils water faster than anything else in my house and I’m talking full rolling boil. Usually I need about 16 oz at a time and it’ll boil by the time I can prepare a cup with teabags. It holds about 4 cups which is about as much boiling water as I ever need. It’s as easy as it gets. The hot plate stays plugged in all the time but it doesn’t activate til a switch on the back of the pot is flipped. Another button on top the handle flips the lid open, but it doesn’t separate from the pot so nothing to lose or drop. Once filled with however much water is needed – and there is a see through scale in back of pot, flip the lid closed. Sit the pot on the plate – I don’t think there is anyway to sit it on incorrectly and the pot swivels freely to put the handle out of the way. Flip the boiling switch and in a flash, water will boil. I don’t know how it works but the switch flips off by itself once it reaches a full boil – so handy. The finish is nice. I have nothing to fault it for. I’ve seen reviews where people have indicated the finish floating into the water. Well, that is the water not this device. I filter my water before boiling it because water here is so hard. Superheating water can cause minerals to precipitate in the water.

This is the second of the same kettle I have bought. The first one was for my sister in law while she lived in the dorms- she used it for a year and then left it with us when she moved away, so I bought and shipped her a new one. The old one is still going strong.
Pros:
1. It’s not too loud- it quiets down after the first minute of heating if it’s not full.
2. It cleans up nicely with a quick wipe with a damp cloth. I probably should wash the inside more often but that’s no problem to clean either.
3.The little filter screen is still in good shape and if it get’s lost there is still a metal strainer that is always there.
4. The automatic shut off is timed well, I think. It comes to a full boil for no more than 5 seconds before it shuts off. And if you take it off the base it automatically flips the switch so when you put it back on it doesn’t keep heating.
5. It’s a good size – not so big that you have to boil way more water than you would use for one cup of tea. But big enough for 5 small mugs (like the one pictured) or 4 bigger ones.
Compare all of that to our last kettle of a different brand that broke. It was too loud, the screen fell apart (dissolved in the water?? I don’t know, one day it just wasn’t there but the frame was) and that made the automatic shut-off iffy. It would boil for 10-20 seconds before it shut off. Made me wonder if it might someday not shut off automatically. Not so with this one.
We use it to heat water for cooking (it’s faster than our stove!), to fill the hot water bottle in the winter, to clean our drains, and of course for making tea!
I do recommend this product! especially if you like to make 1-5 cups of tea at a time.

Initially I purchased this back in January 2020 since I was going to Vegas beginning March. My mom loves coffee but can only drink decaf after our last Vegas trip, we learned it was quite difficult to find and get decaf coffee. Our hotel (Flamingo) casino floor did not have it available anywhere and we had to head outside to the nearest Starbucks, which was a hassle to order and wait for it. Once we finally did get our coffee, it was strong like mud, which my mom does not care for and we had to add water to it – another hassle to order additional water. Nowadays rooms no longer have coffee pots, just the Pods if you’re lucky. So we decided our best solution was to bring our own water heater and instant decaf coffee. This time we stayed at Park MGM and this pot was excellent! We were able to enjoy instant decaf coffee and tea every morning and night without trying to track down places. I purchased this small size because I knew it was for travel and we did not pay for luggage so did the carry on option, it fit fine in my small suitcase and was light enough.
Prior to taking to Vegas we began using this at home and we love it! Our family drinks tea every night and I personally like my hot beverages boiling hot. This little machine brews the coffee extra hot! I will admit, I’ve burned my tongue a couple of times but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I like that we can add water, flip a switch and forget about it. It automatically shuts off and keeps water warm until you are ready to serve. We drink large mugs of tea so we can make about 3 servings. But when we need more, we just add more water and it boils it quickly. I like this gadget so much I just purchased another one for my relative! Can’t go wrong with this!!

“Discovered” this type of kettle while visiting Scotland – all of our B&Bs had them. Less than 4 minutes to boil water! Love it so far. I wish it had a higher quality looking stainless exterior, but it’s nice quality, the right size and works great.

I’m going on 4 yrs with my kettle with not a single problem, it’s set on my counter top because it’s used daily for making tea, coffee and ramen (never putting anything other than water inside) and the inside is sparkling as new, I purchased a silicone bottle cleaning brush and once a week I give it a sudsy wash as not to scratch the surface and it’s still like new. I only use it with distilled water (not tap, for health reasons) which may also be a reason why it’s still in such pristine condition, the only downside is that the cord is oddly hard and kinda stiff but that doesn’t affect it’s performance either way. I recommend this product 100% ♥️

It was an inexpensive buy, and the four people who use it, pretty much daily, are all in agreement that this is a fine kettle. It’s quick to boil water, it’s easy to use.

This is a fabulous product! I gave my older hot pot to my boys when they left for college, because I was excited to try something nicer/newer. This stainless one seemed like a good fit, because of its size and a few other features. So far, I love how fast it heats and how long it stays hot, but I wish it had more options as far as the amount of water I can heat.
PROS
–Smaller design is perfect for my use. 1 liter (about a quart) maximum gets me a couple large cups of coffee out of my french press, or several smaller cups of herb tea for me and my girls.
–Stays very hot FOREVER! I love that the water heats, then stays steaming hot for hours.
–The top stays open automatically. When I dump the hot water, I can set the hotpot on the counter with the lid open and let it dry naturally.
–There is no heating element inside, unlike with my older hot pot. This means I can make oatmeal, ramen, easy mac, or herb tea right in the pot, without having to transfer to another container. Then I can serve into different dishes or mugs.
— Easy to clean because there is no heating element in the inside of the pot.
CONS
–The minimum amount is about 20 ounces, which is more than I’d like to do sometimes. I wish I could heat just 8 or 10 ounces, which would be super quick if I just want a cup of hot tea in the middle of the night.
–The difference between the minimum (.6 liters) and the maximum (1 liter) is pretty minor. I find myself filling, then realizing I haven’t filled enough, then overfilling and having to throw some out. Silly, but annoying.
Overall, GREAT product for the price!!! I would buy it again, and will probably get one for my college kids so they can make ramen and oatmeal more easily.

I bought it November of 2016 so it lasted almost 7 and 1/2 years of using it everyday and sometimes several times because I make a lot of tea- so much faster using the kettle to boil the water to brew for iced tea! And if you use filtered water, so long between cleaning! Very happy with my decision and going to buy another one right now! Thanks Hamilton Beach for always quality products in my opinion!

Since the COVID pandemic I’ve been drinking more tea and wanted to find a faster alternative to the traditional stove top tea kettle. I heard good things about electric kettles and settled on giving the Hamilton Beach model a try mainly due to price point. They can range from $25 to $120 depending on brand and place you buy it from.
Pros
– Compact
– Quick
– Efficient
– Easy to operate
Cons
– Exterior can get hot after boiling
Review
This electric kettle did not disappoint. It’s small enough to keep on the countertop without taking up too much space and it cranked out boiling water in under 4 minutes (3 minutes 42 seconds to be exact.) To give you a point of reference my stove top began whistling at 7 minutes.
It can’t get easier to use, you fill it and depress the switch on the front. When it’s done, the light shuts off. It holds a max of 1 liter, which is more than enough for a couple cups of tea or steeping coffee with a French press.
Temperature wise this unit actually outperformed a traditional tea kettle although not by much. Hamilton Beach = 201.5F, Traditional Kettle = 200.6F.
The only downside to the unit was the exterior stainless steel gets extremely hot so you’ll want to keep a minimum clearance around it and keep it away from little hands. This wasn’t a bid deal for me, since we have the room for it.
Overall, if you’re looking for a good conventional tea kettle replacement you can’t go wrong with this one, especially at its price point.
