The FlexBrew Trio is a handy coffee maker that has nice versatility, allowing you to make a pot of coffee with up to 12 cup servings, or just a single serving, with selectable sizes of 6oz, 8oz, 10oz, and 12oz. The included single serving basket is perfect for using your own grind and creates a flavorful brew, which is superior to the reusable K-Cup basket I was using before, which holds less grounds.
The K-Cup adapter works well, and compared to my classic K55 Keurig, it makes better tasting coffee. I think this is because the FlexBrew uses higher pressure.
The drip brewer is pretty standard, so I don’t have much to say about it, other than it works and makes coffee about as well as any other I have used. A reusable basket does not come with the coffee maker, so you’ll need to plan to buy one if you like using those.
A feature I really like is the “Bold” brew setting. It basically brews your coffee much slower, but allows fuller extraction from your grounds. I notice a difference, and use it when I have the time.

Note: This brewer has 2 separate tanks; 1 for the drip brew/carafe, and one for the single serve brewer. I was confused by some reviews because apparently there is a model that does not have a reservoir for the K-Cup brewer, but just uses the amount of water you put into the machine. The FlexBrew Trio model does have a reservoir tank that holds 56oz of water for the K-Cup side.

I only have a couple of gripes about this coffee maker.

      1) The temperature of the coffee is noticeably lower than any other K-Cup coffee maker I have used. This is not a defect, but seems to be a standard setting that cannot be changed. Although it makes the coffee drinkable right away, if you like your coffee on the hotter side, but add cold creamer or cold foam, you may need to microwave your coffee for a few seconds first.

      2) Some disposable K-Cups deform in this coffee maker, which can lead to a bad brew and spilling grounds into your cup and all over the inside of the machine. It isn’t a problem with brands like Starbucks or Maxwell House, but I have experienced this with brands from ALDI like “Barissimo”. It is likely due to the higher pressure than what a Keurig uses which I mentioned earlier. I won’t say this is a problem exactly, because this is an issue with the K-Cup maker, but just be aware of this before you buy that 120ct of K-Cups.

We actually purchased 2 of these. The first one is great! We love how hot the single serving gets, but it takes 3 minutes…but worth the wait!
The Second one that we got for a separate residence and the single serving is faster, but not at hot. Also, the single serving side occasionally stops working. (If you take the end of the paper clip and use it to clear the “needles” that poke into the single serve cup to clear them, it starts working again.)

Bought this in May, and it has worked beautifully, until this morning.
The single cup kept coming up with an overload error. Tried looking up for the manual, or for some solution to this, to no avail. But did find, that if I took that gray piece out of the top (see pictures for examples), started poking around with a pipe cleaner, to find that there was some coffee build up in the metal tip, preventing water to flow through properly. At the very top of that metal tip, there is a hole that allows the water to flow through, and that’s were the clog was. Once I got it cleared with pipe cleaner, it’s back to working perfectly again.
So, please, before tossing and posting negative ratings, check this tip out and give it a try. If that doesn’t work, give the company a piece of your mind.. 🙂

I bought this just over two years ago. It’s everything it says it is, but is also everything many of the reviewers have said it is. When I ordered it, I also bought a “3 year protection plan” which is actually the one year manufacturer’s warranty plus two additional years. (I thought that was a little strange compared to what I have experienced in the past with protection plans). My protection plan was due to expire in less than a year, Sept 2020. The manufacturer’s warranty expired a year ago. With that said, I’ve only had little querky problems all of this time, some of which may have been due to the particular K-cup I was using, something I did incorrectly, or both.

I needed to contact the manufacturer shortly after purchase because quite often, when using the single side with a K-cup, it would spray out all over and make a mess, and make me wish I didn’t use the K-cup. I love, and mostly use the brown grounds basket, and in the two years have never had a problem using the grounds basket – up until just recently. I’ve always taken care to clean out the needles of both of the gray pieces. I think the piece that gives the most problem is the round, upper gray needle holder. I can’t imagine that actual “Keurig” coffee makers have anything similar to that annoying piece and still be as popular as they are. On the HB Flexbrew, it is necessary to unscrew that, and clean it. I generally not only run water through the top but also take an open paper clip and poke around in the needle to make sure there’s no grounds in it. As annoying as it is to have to do that, I make sure that I do it at least every other time I use the brown grounds basket and after every time I use a K-Cup. I’ve also routinely poured vinegar through even though this summer we got a reverse osmosis drinking water system and now only use that water in the coffee maker. I was told by the water guy that we shouldn’t ever need to pour vinegar to clean again. Well, I’ve done it twice in the past three months. A few months ago, I started having strange problems where it sounds like it’s going to start pumping the water out, but then the white brewing light starts flashing, the word “needle” starts scrolling across the screen, and eventually the light goes out and everything stops. After pouring vinegar through the single cup side twice, and letting the vinegar sit in it a little longer before brewing the second time, I eventually got it to work again. Then last week it started doing that again, but not only with the K-cup, but even with the brown grounds basket. I had used the brown grounds basket earlier the same day with no problems at all. Now though it does it even without either basket in it. I’ve been messing with it for two days now, and it appears it must be some mechanical problem on the single cup side’s pump or electronic parts. I’ve tried nearly 20 or 30 times to get the vinegar and water solution through the brewer but it just doesn’t get that far before the white light goes out. As far as I know the carafe full pot side works OK. I don’t use that side very often since I’m the only coffee drinker in our home, but have used it a dozen times or so since I’ve gotten it, with no problems so far. I’ve ran vinegar through the full pot side only once or twice so far.

So after giving up on ever getting the single cup side to work again, I filed a claim with the protection plan and was given the option of sending it in for repair, or replacement or having a check reimbursement. All three options terminated the protection plan even though I have one more year left on it. I chose the check which wasn’t for the full amount I originally paid for it, but was about 2/3 of it. I was happy with that. So, now I must decide what to buy to replace it. I had always wished that I had a genuine “Keurig” coffee maker, but didn’t want to pay the price for it. I see that Keurig now makes a two-in-one machine with both the carafe and single K-cup, which is enticing. However, as I said, most of my single cup use is with the brown grounds basket. I even recently ordered two more or the brown grounds baskets from the Hamilton Beach web site after they finally had them back in stock, so that I had backup ones if I don’t get around to cleaning it out. I’ve pretty much decided to buy another Hamilton Beach Flex Brew since I will then have extra parts (carafe, baskets, needles, etc.) I’ve been trying to decide whether to get the same color / model or try the insulated carafe model or the white model. I’m leaning towards the white model not only because my appliances are white, but also it is a very new model that just came out on Amazon this past October. I’m hoping that in the two years since I bought my black & silver model that they’ve figured out and fixed some of the problems. I will probably also buy the protection plan but did notice that it is the other company this time and costs a little more than the protection plan on my first model. If the same thing happens again in two years or less with the newer white model, then I guess I will file a claim again if I’m able, and then consider whether to go with a different brand coffee maker or a Keurig when the time comes. I own several Hamilton Beach small appliances and am pleased with all of them so far. That is why I went with the Hamilton Beach Flex Brew system in the first place. It was everything I wanted in a coffee maker and more. I just hope I won’t be disappointed.

It was time to replace our old coffee maker and I wanted something quick and easy to use. This one turned out to be the perfect choice. it couldn’t be easier to use and delivers a great cup of coffee no matter how you want it. You can choose to make a full carafe, a single cup using your favorite blend of ground coffee or simply pop in a pod. How easy is that?! You can change the cup size and strength with the touch of a button and the large reservoir for the single serve side is very convenient. Hamilton Beach thought of everything when designing this product and I’m so glad I chose it from the dozens of others out there. Good job!

My husband loves this coffee maker. We’ve been through 4 Cuisinart coffee makers in the past 5 years (leaks, gauge failures etc)
Easy to use, easy to program, has Bold and Regular brew options, single cup or a full pot. There’s a timer feature…. It’s all you need and want except a stainless steel carafe- my husband didn’t want to spend the extra money for that one BUT!! I reminded him that we already have a SS pot from a different maker that the lid on top of the coffee maker unit broke off while cleaning the unit. Oh yeah! He’s happy now!
Buy this and you’ll love it too!!

I bought the original version of this coffee maker years ago when it first came out and I really liked it – it makes large & smaller mugs and carafes of coffee. And, it uses pods or a little thingy if you want to use your own ground coffee – which is what I do because those pods are just more plastic polluting the earth. This newer version as a reservoir for the water as well as select-able cup sizes and a timer for later. So I love it even more. And the price is right. (The old one I had lasted a long time and didn’t owe me any money.)

I recently purchased the Trio 2-Way Coffee Maker, and it has quickly become an indispensable part of my morning routine. Here’s why I’m giving this versatile coffee machine a glowing five-star review:

**Versatility and Convenience:** The Trio 2-Way Coffee Maker lives up to its name by offering an incredible level of versatility. Whether I’m in the mood for a single cup or need a full carafe for the morning rush, this machine has me covered. The ability to switch between brewing methods with ease is a game-changer for a household with diverse coffee preferences.

**Quality of Coffee:** One of my initial concerns was whether the convenience of a 2-way brew system would compromise the quality of the coffee. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was not the case. Both the single-serve and carafe options produce rich, flavorful coffee that satisfies my coffee shop-quality expectations.

**Ease of Use:** The Trio 2-Way Coffee Maker is remarkably user-friendly. The intuitive interface allows me to select my brewing preference without fuss, and the clear markings for water levels eliminate any guesswork. The simplicity of switching between brewing modes means I can enjoy my preferred coffee style with minimal effort.

**Sleek Design:** Not only is this coffee maker highly functional, but it also boasts a sleek and modern design that looks great on my countertop. The compact footprint is a significant plus, considering its dual functionality. It’s a stylish addition to my kitchen without taking up unnecessary space.

**Durability and Cleaning:** After several weeks of use, the Trio 2-Way Coffee Maker has proven to be durable and easy to maintain. The components are sturdy and well-made. Cleaning is a breeze, especially with the removable parts being dishwasher safe. This ease of maintenance ensures that the machine continues to perform at its best.

**Eco-Friendly Options:** I appreciate the eco-friendly aspect of being able to use a reusable filter for the single-serve option. It’s a great way to reduce waste and save money on disposable pods. The inclusion of this feature reflects a thoughtful consideration for both the user and the environment.

**Value for Money:** Given its dual functionality, ease of use, and the quality of coffee it produces, the Trio 2-Way Coffee Maker offers excellent value for money. It’s a versatile appliance that caters to all my coffee needs without requiring multiple devices.

In conclusion, the Trio 2-Way Coffee Maker has exceeded my expectations in every way. It combines versatility, convenience, and quality into one sleek machine. For anyone looking to upgrade their coffee experience with a device that can handle the demands of both single-serve and carafe brewing, I cannot recommend this coffee maker highly enough. It’s a stellar addition to any coffee lover’s kitchen arsenal.

This brewer is fantastic! Easy to use, single cup options are 6oz-14oz , the coffee tastes better than my other expensive brand that never worked right. I would buy this one again hands down. I love being able to brew a pot of coffee when having guests over.

Without naming the other brand I’m comparing this Hamilton flex brew trio. The other brand was very expensive $200+. This was $80. Other brand had a carafe that no matter how carefully you poured the coffee it spilled everywhere and made a mess. Hamilton is well designed and no mess pouring. I’ll start with the bad which is not bad but I would prefer the display to be brighter or able to adjust. In my opinion that is the only bad thing and I wouldn’t even say it’s a bad thing. It is easy to set up the clock, make coffee in the carafe or single serve. For the carafe all you do is pour the water in the carafe side for the amount of coffee you want. Ex if you want 10 cups you pour water to the 10 cup line if you want 12 cups you pour water to the 12 cup line. Put the amount of coffee to you preference in a filter and press Brew. Easy as that. Same as the single serve. I use a measuring cup with a spout for the single serve. I put the amount of water in the cup I’m using for the single serve in to the spouted measuring cup then pour it in the water side for single serve. This keeps the water from going everywhere from using the mug. Put any brand of pod (K cup or generic can be used unlike the other expensive brand). Press the single serve button and brew. You have a delicious cup of coffee. Or you can use the filtered basket that comes with the set and use your ground coffee in that. I’ve tried all three. Very easy and versatile. I was concerned after reading some of the reviews about the temperature of the coffee. The coffee is very hot with all three ways of brewing. It has a two hour shut off timer for the carafe. While the carafe is on the burner it stays very hot all two hours. Very pleased with the temperature it stays at. If I’m needing it to stay on longer than the two hours I don’t add more water but push the brew button again and it resets the timer. WARNING I do not know if this is bad for the Hamilton but I have not had any problems doing this. It is very easy to set the program timer. Just press and hold the clock button until it blinks 1900 then set the program time as preferred. You only need to do this once if you’re going to leave it at the same time every day. So if you want it to brew 5:00am set the program timer for that. Set up the coffee carafe side and press program and it’s set. You cannot set the timer program for the single serve but I couldn’t with the other brand either. Not a big deal or dealbreaker. All three brewing ways take a little bit longer to brew but not much at all. Again not a deal breaker. For all the Hamilton has to offer at a very affordable price compared to a couple minutes with the very expensive one I don’t mind. And if you set the program timer the couple minutes don’t matter. The Hamilton seems very durable and well designed. My only regret was I did not buy this long ago. But I’m glad I bought the other expensive one then this Hamilton affordable one. Proves by experience money doesn’t always buy quality. If needed I would buy this Hamilton over the other(s) any day!!!!!
