Product Description No matter how much you try, it’s impossible to get freshly brewed flavor from coffee that’s been sitting on a hot plate too long. That’s why we created the Hamilton Beach BrewStation, the only coffeemaker that keeps coffee tasting fresh for up to four hours. This best-selling coffee maker works just like a traditional, automatic drip brewer, but with a notable difference: it brews into an internal tank instead of a carafe. This innovation in brewing technology is what will make your last cup taste just as fresh as the first. An internal heater keeps coffee at the perfect temperature for up to four hours, so you can refuel with a fresh, hot cup throughout your morning. And with no glass carafe, you have nothing fragile to break and replace. Instead, you can easily pour a cup with the one-handed simplicity of a dispensing bar. The BrewStation lets you customize your cup with brewing options like bold, regular, small batches and even iced coffee. The internal tank and brew basket both remove for easy fill-up and cleaning. UPDATE: This one didn’t last long. Started leaking. I cleaned the inside and valve thing with Lime Away, which stopped the leak.
The Lime Away also marred the fake Stainless Steel on the front (it’s very fake, since a magnet sticks to all the stainless steel on the thing).
Then the thing wouldn’t stop trying to boil the water. It constantly sounded like it was frying. If I didn’t throw it away, I’m sure it would have burned the house down.
Since I didn’t use it to make coffee, just hot water, this is what I ended up replacing it with – which is absolutely GREAT (so far), has 4 temperature settings, and holds 4 liters of hot water (it will stay on all the time if the water lasts you a few days, or you can set it to turn off after a while):
Zojirushi CD-WBC40 Micom 4-Liter Electric Water Boiler and Warmer, Champagne Gold
I bought this cleaner, which is citric acid, but haven’t used it or needed it yet:
Zojirushi #CD-K03EJU Inner Container Cleaner for Electric Pots, 4 Packets
——————————————–
This is the third Brew Station I’ve bought.
This model is an improvement to what looks like the same model I bought last time.
The main improvement is that the part you press the cup against doesn’t stick out as much, so the liquid doesn’t spill with nearly every cup poured.
Another improvement is that the stainless trim doesn’t stain immediately.
The reason I’ve bought three of these so far is that the previous two just plain leaked. Fill it up, press start, come back 10 minutes later and the hot water or coffee is all over the floor. In my case, it actually ruined the kitchen cabinets by having the whole 6 cups of hot water running down the wood.
I’ve never made coffee with the machine, I just use it to heat water and dispense it into a cup.
The solution after I ruined the cabinets was to move the whole coffee maker up so it’s hanging over the edge of the counter by an inch. That way the water simply drips onto the floor. It worked, because I’ve found it all on the floor at least a few times since that first experience. Hasn’t ruined the hardwood floor, yet.
Why have I bought a third one? Because in reading the reviews of the more expensive brands out there that don’t need a pot, they seem to break all the time. This thing is cheaper, so I can buy two for the cost of one of the others.
Not surprising since the Hamilton Beach as well as all the other brands are designed in a third world country where the engineers probably ride a donkey to work, probably don’t have electricity in their homes, probably don’t have a bathroom in their homes, and may have never heard of coffee.
Maybe they improved the thing so it won’t leak from the dispenser on this model? It hasn’t leaked yet, but I’ve only had it a couple of months.
I used CLR every month or so with the previous models to remove any calcium buildup from the dispensing valve (a spring and a rubber O ring).
The part I just can’t get over is having to look at this thing every morning when it goes down two cups when I fill my 9 ounce plastic cup. So I’m thinking every morning “Do I really drink 6 cups of instant coffee every morning?”
I looked up on the Internet that a cup is 8 ounces. Then I looked on the Hamilton Beach website where it says their machines use 4.5 ounces for a cup.
So every morning I’m reminded that I gave money to a company who purposely deceived me by labeling a 6 cup coffeemaker as 12 cups.
Are any of the other manufacturers more honest than Hamilton Beach? I don’t know, but I do know I’m going to look when this thing breaks. I just don’t like having their lie shoved in my face EVERY morning (which is why I’m writing this review).

This is my second Brewstation and the two main flaws are 1.) not good coffee 2.) condensation drips all over, even more so with this one. From CoffeeSnob’s 4-star review “…….it is a bit more awkward to fill. But, the biggest problem I have with it is the coffee basket. It has about 50 holes in the bottom for the water/coffee to flow out of the basket. The result is a very weak-tasting coffee because it flows through so quickly. I can’t understand why this model is made like this when other models have only one hole” Great job CoffeeSnob! My thoughts exactly!!!!!!! If you don’t put on the BOLD setting, the water flies through the porous basket and you will have warm brown liquid in the coffeepot within minutes. On the bold setting it just puts a few drops in the basket at a time and just gets the grounds wet, then a little more water to make it drip down. Not an effective way to get the flavor and essence from the coffeebean. My wife and I agree this coffeepot is made for speed and not for flavor. It gets made quickly and it absolutely flies out of the spout into your cup. But it changes the flavor of your favorite coffee for the worse. Not good. A micro-screen permanent basket AND paper filter still did not do the trick (makes the lid not close all the way). Nevertheless, my wife and I have loved the convenience of the dispenser on these machines over the years but our coffee was just not tasting good with the last one or this one.
Unlike most people, we want our coffee to taste the BEST POSSIBLE. What machine can do this? Before I answer I am not going to let conveniences take priority over flavor. The flavor has to be the best first and foremost. So things like programmable functions, a clock, beeping electronic noises, quick to make, quick to dispense, good looks, etc. are secondary to FLAVOR. What are you drinking coffee for? The convenience of it or the flavor? I say the flavor. You may fool yourself into thinking a novel dispenser makes your coffee taste good but don’t lie to yourself because you know McDonald’s coffee is better than your Hamilton Beach coffee. Admit it, you know you’ve tasted the difference and wondered why. The way the Hamilton Beach “brews” coffee is second-rate because the first priority is the water bin and dispenser nozzle set up. It is just not conducive to great coffee making. Just dispensing.
If you want the best flavor above and beyond anything else, then the answer is Presto 02811 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffee Maker a percolator!!!! An old fashioned percolator! Never had one before but my folks did when I was a child from what I remember. But after a ton of research everything pointed to this type of coffeepot if FLAVOR is your number one priority. And let me tell you — the very first cup I tasted from this beauty (same amount of water , same coffee, same everything as in the Hamilton Beach) was INCREDIBLE!!! The coffee tasted so good it almost made me mad that I had been tricked all these years by substandard coffee makers. Like a good wine, the finish on a cup of coffee brewed by this Presto percolator just lingered in your mouth and slowly faded away and you end up smacking your lips wanting more. A side by side comparison with my new Hamilton Beach showed its flaws. Hamilton Beach coffee had a bitter finish and overall flavor was different. Presto percolator coffee was: 1. Better tasting(much better!!) 2. Faster to make 3. Less effort to make 4. Easier dispensing (what??!! you will never drip down the side of your cup..ever..unless you are a bad pourer) and even easier cleanup 5. Hotter coffee as well. The only thing it doesn’t have is programmable functions, in fact it doesn’t even have a switch, you just unplug it to turn it off.
Yes, I can’t believe it. In fact, it’s kind of ironic that it was my folks that turned us on to the Hamilton Beach many years ago. You think they would know better since they originally way-back-when had a percolator 🙂 I will have to turn them on to the Presto!! It will blow their minds (kind of).

Update. Contacted the company and they said that part is under warranty so I will get another one.
I’m thankful for their quick response and willingness to help.
I’m still a bit anxious because the last one we had was working great for many years and I think the newer ones probably have cheaper parts and are more flimsy. It’s definitely lighter than the old one.
But I am just glad to be able to get a replacement part so quickly.
Original review:
Works well, so far. But the basket handle broke, snapped in half already and we have only had it for a few months. Simply by dumping the grinds and used filter in the trash. And just daily use making coffee. So be gentle with it.
Purchased in November but didn’t start using it until Dec. For Christmas.
Everything else seems to be okay so far. The last one we had lasted 10 years almost. Other parts eventually were broken but it was still able to be used, but barely. But this part is a cheaper plastic than the original one.
But our first one worked great for 6 years straight. Then limped along for the rest of its life.
If we’re already having broken parts after 3 months I don’t have much faith that the rest of it will last much longer. Well it definitely won’t last as long as the last one.
Luckily we saved the old basket and we took the handle off that one but it doesn’t match up. So we have to be careful when pulling the basket out. We can probably order another whole basket. But I am hoping that they might want to send me one. Because although I didn’t purchase a warranty, 3 months for a part to break kinda stinks. Much more flimsy than the last one which was the exact same model.
But it is a great coffee maker and easy to use.
You can set it to brew at a time you want.
It’s not heavy or awkward and it fits well anywhere in the kitchen.
The best thing is that it keeps the coffee warm and has a spout where you push a bar in to dispense it as opposed to having to pour. Which is great for people who have mobility issues.
The company literally replied within a day and solved my problem with the broken part and has already sent me a new basket.

We have been using their coffee pots for years!!! I wanted to try this one because it doesn’t take up as much space as our old one. The ones we had before had the water holder on the side and after a couple years of use they start to leak pretty badly. I am hoping this one won’t because they are great coffee pots. I love that you can make an entire pot but never have to use a carafe because you just push the cup against it and the coffee comes out. This one is very light weight and like I said, doesn’t take up as much space. They look nice and match any decor. They are simple to use and all of options are right there and aren’t hard to understand. It will keep your coffee hot for hours if you turn on the keep warm setting. It can make the full 12 cups with a couple of minutes and you can use it as its brewing.

I first encountered the Hamilton Beach on a vacation, and was captivated by a machine that automatically dispensed coffee; why hadn’t anyone thought of this before? I’m also a sucker for gadgets and buttons, so I couldn’t wait for an excuse to get one.
The excuse presented itself soon after, when I broke our second Ninja pot. At $25 a pop, I was already in for $50, and number three was gonna make it $75. I didn’t like the math, and Ninja didn’t make a steel carafe. If they had, I would have stayed with it- it’s a nimble little machine that makes tasty coffee. But like printer cartridges, they soak you. And my trusty old Cuisinart finally gave up the ghost after one too many spills where I forgot to put the lid on. I kept the steel carafe, though, and I poured my coffee from the Ninja into the carafe. It stays hot and fresh longer, something no glass pot can do.
Segue to the HB. It’s pretty simple, with only a reservoir (the base unit) a “pot” (the plastic unit on top that the coffee brews into) and the filter. You fill up the reservoir (I use the pot to do this, which is easy to hold and has a pour spout that actually pours without dripping all over), grind your beans (medium to fine), stick it back together and press the button. The BOLD and 1-4 settings work well, and you can adjust the pot to stay hot for 0-4 hours (which is does because of the conductive heating plates which meet at the pot and the base). The zero hour setting is for cold coffee.
But as long as a coffee machine works and is easy enough to clean, it’s all about the taste. Here the HB also performs well; we’ve had it for a couple of weeks and the coffee is as rich and flavorful as anything that comes out of a sub-$300 machine or a French press (which I still like best). A traditional pot is easier to clean, because it’s round, but a good brush takes care of the odd shape of the pot. The HB cost $59, and I opted for the 4-year Asurion warranty for an extra $11- I’m fed up with things that go kaput, and while I don’t see that happening with this unit, it’s worth the piece of mind. The fact that it won’t break was one of the two big sells for the HB. The other was the auto-pour feature, which, while pretty neat, comes with an asterisk.*
*It’s got a bit of resistance. When I push my cup against it, the unit slides back, even though it has a couple of rubber pads, and it’s on a granite counter. Easily solved by putting it against the wall, which doesn’t impede the lid or machine in any way. But it does take a little more push than, say, a lever at a soda machine. No big deal, but some people may take umbrage at the audacity for it to push back a little. Hey, I’m the boss here, and you’re gonna give me a cup whether you’re in the mood or not, little button.
Take away: The HB is solid unit that won’t break, and it makes very good coffee that stays hot. It obviates spills and burns (smart for seniors who shake or drop things), and for less than the price of three replacement Ninja carafes, it’s a bargain, and it’s fun to get your morning going at the push of a button.

FULL DISCLOSURE: We paid the full listed price and received no discounts.
I purchased this "older" model (48464) as a factory re-certified coffee maker for $29, about $10 cheaper than a new item from Amazon Prime. The note included with the machine stated it was re-certified in the USA by local folks at the facility in North Carolina. I ordered it on a Sunday and it arrived the following Tuesday. Pretty darn good for a non-Prime order! It came in the original (but new) box showing correctly what’s inside. A label on the outside indicated it was rebuilt in August 2016. The coffee maker showed zero signs of previous use and i would not have been able to tell it from a new product.
The is our second Brew Master. The one it replaced is 5+ years old and tired. It pretty much got used every day for 2-4 brewings but the dispense rate got slow and no amount of cleaning would resolve this. Brewed coffee is rather oily and overtime can build up around the small parts of the dispensing mechanism. This can lead to a slow dispensing rate as well as a tendency to drip a bit after you remove your cup. Hamilton Beach recommends the usual vinegar and water mix to remove scale buildup that might occur in the pump and dispensing lines and they also recommend an overnite soak of hot water and 2 tablespoons of automatic dishwasher detergent. Whichever method you use, be sure to run at least 2 full brewing cycles using plain water. Also, if you have the time, run a plain water cycle through the machine after a week’s use as a preventative measure.
This model is obviously an improvement over our previous model. The LCD screen is much easier to see, it has brew https://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-48464-Capacity-Brewstation/dp/B001K66LPQ/ref=sr_1_13?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1544104775&sr=1-13&keywords=hamilton+beach+coffee+makersettings that actually work—if you like a stronger brew you can select "BOLD" and it slows down the rate at which hot water is poured into the brewing basket. It has a timer to shut off the heating element. There is also a 1-4 cup setting that slows down the rate but not quite as much as the BOLD setting. If you’re an iced coffee lover (we are), you can actually make a pot of ice cold coffee. Basically, you double the amount of coffee, select the ICED brew, and fill the empty dispensing tank with ice cubes. Then just brew up a pot of iced coffee! Easy Peasy.
The brewing basket has many brewing holes unlike our old model which has just one hole for the coffee to drip through. This model also has an automatic shut off gizmo which stops the flow of hot water if you lift the lid during the brewing cycle, like you might do to add some more coffee. The old model did not have this feature. This machine is the 12 cup version while our old machine was a 10 cup model. We found that if you brewed 10 cups in the old one, it made a mess with splashed coffee grounds. Brewing 10 cups in this one did not make a mess. We have not tried to brew 12 cups.
Perhaps it is because this is the taller 12 cup model, but you can dispense coffee into one of those tall travel cups. Our old 10 cupper did not have the clearance to do this.
Lastly, all Hamilton Beach Brew Master machines do in fact keep the coffee hot for a longer period of time without imparting that burnt taste.
This is a great machine with a proven track record for reliability. It’s inexpensive and highly recommended for all coffee lovers.
The only nit to pick is this is not truly a one hand dispensing operation. Once you get the available coffee down to 4 cups or so, you’ll need to use your other hand to stop the machine from sliding when you push your cup against the dispensing button. The sleeker your counter top is, the greater the tendency to slide, A non-issue.
[UPDATE 12-18]
After almost 3 years of daily use, the heating element died. This means there is no heat to keep the brewed coffee warm resulting in trips to the microwave (several reviewers have complained that it doesn’t keep the coffee hot even when the heating element is working.) Personally, I don’t care for microwave re-heated coffee so this Brew Station is kaput. I also noted shortly after receiving it back in 2016 that the tank which holds the brewed coffee was a little wobbly when in place. Also, it developed a drip after using the push bar to dispense a cup of coffee—-fortunately, the drips drop into an easily removed base which is simply rinsed out.
So, all things considered would I buy this again? Yes I would and I did. This time, however, I ponied up a couple bucks for the 3 yr replacement plan.

I had an earlier model for over 5 years and loved it but the heating element failed. No carafe and the ability to choose Bold Brewing option are the reasons I love this coffee maker. This newer model makes coffee just the way I like it but it is a royal pain to set up, fill, clean Etc. Despite my annoyance every time I have to set it up, I would buy it again

I want to begin by saying that I absolutely love this thing. I was on the lookout for a coffee maker that would reduce the amount of spillage that my wife does when she pours her coffee. This turned out to be a great solution.
We are on our second version of this product. We had a red one at first got it a few years ago. We now have a black one. Here’s where the honesty comes in.
The quality of a black one is less than the red one for sure. If the red one was a 9 out of 10 Star product when it comes to quality then the black one is probably a seven and a half. The pieces don’t have quite the super snug fit that the red one had and the plastic just seems a little bit less refined if that makes sense.
The ability to keep your coffee warm the variations of Brew types the Simplicity of use the pour feature are all fantastic. I’ve seen several on here stating that it leaks. Sure when you overfill it it leaks. If you pour in the water too fast it’s going to leak or dribble. After extended use if you don’t keep it clean yes it will drip.
The only reason we bought a new one is because the last one started to drip. The compartment that holds the coffee which is the top part that you see in my picture that has the clock and the silver area on it started to drip. So you take that off you undo these two screws you remove the little flap that I see people posting on here that broke you give it a good cleaning your rinse out the area on the inside where the flap sits and you put it back together with the two screws and you’re good to go.
Most people don’t take time to maintain their coffee pot when it starts to act up they just buy a new one because they’re cheap. On the other hand I am cheap so I try and maintain it clean it take care of it and it lasts. I think we had our other one for 3 years and it started to leak and as I was cleaning it I over tightened the screw and I broke the section that it screws into and that’s the only reason I got a new one and can write this review about the quality of the new version.
Yes it’s probably made in China or Taiwan or something like that but so is everything else. It is a quality product. And it reduces the potential danger of your older mother or your wife spilling hot coffee everywhere. Maybe your dad is not as graceful with the coffee pour. Maybe your kids drink coffee? They just walk up to it put their cup underneath it and push the button and it pours into their cup.
Would I recommend this product? 1,000%. Is a little bit of a different process absolutely and that’s okay. I think it’s cool that the company at Hamilton Beach took the time to create a coffee pot that was completely different than all the other coffee pots you’ve ever seen. If you’re worried about the durability then go get a 1960s percolator that makes 32 cups of coffee and just use that we have one of those that we use for parties and it’s been around and works just fine for about 50 years now. But if you’re just looking for something that is a little bit different convenient and provides the ability to adjust the Brew type of your coffee from regular to bowl to extra bold then go for this give it a shot. I like companies that think outside the box and Hamilton Beach has done a great job of that with this product. Like I said I bought two of them and if I had friends that I wanted to spend 50 bucks on for Christmas I probably buy one of these for them too.
So don’t let the negative reviews deter you because sometimes people get lemons it’s the same debate between Ford versus Chevy this is Hamilton Beach versus Mr Coffee sometimes people have great results with one and not the other but for the most part it’s a coffee pot man it should work just fine.
I will end this by saying that I am a fan a very big fan. And would totally 100% recommend this product if someone asked me about it. Oh look they asked me about it, and here I am recommending it.

Honestly, really love this coffee pot. There’s two downsides to it one it’s not very heavy it is lighter than a single serving competitor K cup, so when you try to depress the button to get a cup of coffee when it’s low, it will tip over or slide to the back of the counter number two very poor design. A little difficult to fill the water level With the heating element directly in your way other than that it makes great coffee. The bold setting taste great. It has a timer works perfect every time. honestly, really love it.

All is well except for the filling part. If you over fill it runs out the back. I pull mine out to the edge of counter to make coffee & then push it back to run. So if it’s a little full & it’s hard to tell by the cup marker, so it runs out the back. So I have wet counter behind maker sometimes.
