First off, trying to heat things by just pressing the Sensor button is a joke. Whatever you put in there will likely catch fire if you aren’t watching closely. I’m not sure this senses anything, to be honest. I am marginally happy with Alexa taking commands but you have to be very specific and basically memorize the few things Alexa can control. If you take the time to learn how the buttons work (and it’s a lot different than your typical microwave) only then is this a 4 star product. Overall, I’m happy with it although it’s hard to tell from this review. 😉

This microwave is just plain great. Easy to use features with words instead of code. Own a Panasonic microwave for over 20 years, yes one unit. Needed one with a smaller foot print. Bought another brand that has air fryer in it. Two of them later(within to years) and back to Panasonic. This has been a great unit and expect it to be for years. Like that twisting knob changes to you want to do, with understandable words or abreviations. Want to cook potatos, twist until you see potato, press center, twist for number of potatos and press center to start. So great and easy to use. Even alexa connected for those that want/use it. Works every well too.

There may be some new product shock when setting up this microwave. The manual is fairly epic but thankfully is laid out well and makes sense. If you aren’t planning to use an Amazon smart speaker nor your phone then some features may be a button pushing mess. That is because there are a ton of features and the buttons/dial are fairly sparse. I like that, most of the buttons on most microwaves are of no use to me and on this microwave are available but require extra button combinations and pushes.
I use the Alexa phone app and have been exceptionally pleased with how the app works and with how easily the microwave responds. If I’m reheating something I use it like a traditional microwave. It is nice to know however that more complex things can be done with it.
Bottom line, if you dislike using voice activated control this microwave is probably not for you. For traditional use the interface is simple but effective. For traditional tasks this microwave will get the job done while offering many additional types of usage should you desire it.

I love this microwave! I have low vision, and I have several Alexa devices in the house, and the microwave connected right away. It came with a paper user manual, but I downloaded the manual so I had it on my computer and could search for specific features and have information read out loud to me (from pdf or Word). I’ve had the microwave for two weeks and I’m still learning the correct commands (defrost instead of thaw), but it’s easy to just say ‘Alexa – thaw 4 ounces of chicken breast’ and immediately hear the microwave start up,. The manual includes a long chart of the many commands, so you learn what types of things it can do. There are only six buttons, and they’re actual 3D buttons you can feel, and I use the Quick 30 button as well as voice commands. This can be used as a normal microwave oven, but it’s particularly wonderful for those of us with vision issues who have trouble reading a flat keypad. Thank you!

We got this for my sister-in-law who is totally blind. Microwave ovens have long been her go-to appliance to prepare meals. She already has an Alexa compatible microwave, but it is small/underpowered as a primary cooking unit. The Panasonic NN-SV79MS is a full-sized/full-power unit that better meets her needs. As her “IT Guy” I set this up and connected with her Alexa. The process was very easy, took no more than a couple of minutes. This is an attractive, nicely designed and built microwave. We haven’t used the physical controls much as the whole purpose was to use through Alexa. The Panasonic NN-SV79MS heats meals/food very evenly and is one of the quietest running microwaves we’ve ever used. The inverter/sensor cooking seems to be very accurate and my SIL usually can use simple commands such as “Alexa, reheat one meal” rather than have to worry about how long to cook something. She has only had this for a bit over a month, so can’t comment on longevity, but this appears to be a very good microwave and especially for those who may be low vision/legally blind (or totally blind).

To begin it is honestly really easy to setup with Alexa but I haven’t really used it, except once. The buttons are easy enough to use. The sensor option is ridiculously awesome, it does heat it up perfectly but beware the container/bowl will be pretty damn hot so make sure you use something to grab it. The size is really nice. Easy cleaning, we haven’t tried the popcorn option yet but will soon and hopefully that works as well as the sensor option.
Overall pretty happy with it since are last like 3 microwaves always had to microwave longer to get the food heated up.

I don’t want Alexa in any device in my home and I certainly don’t want to have to ask her for the time. Unfortunately, my wife bought this and did not understand that there would be no normal clock display and that Alexa is integral to this oven. The oven does work very well but the turntable groans and chatters as the oven is working. This is not what I expect for Panasonic and I will probably never buy another Panasonic product.

This microwave is quite complicated for us seniors, we have only figured out a few of its features.
We still haven’t figured out the Alexa feature. Mostly because we can’t see the knob descriptions.
If the buttons and displays were lit up it would be so much easier to see what we’re doing

The microwave works great. it connected to Alexa upon set up. She worked immediately. Upon giving Alexa a cooking command. I was skeptical it would work well but it surprised me. I need the ability of Alexa to control the microwave. that is why I got it. It is an expensive microwave. I got a great price on Prime day. It is worth the money. for anyone blind or has low vision. since most microwaves are flat panels. that have to be marked. this microwave has no number pad like a traditional one. it has 6 push buttons and a turn dial. it is a really nice microwave. it is a taller microwave. then my last Panasonic. My last Panasonic was accessible too. Accessibility is an important factor. Manufactures should keep in mind. It is a wonderful microwave. Just got it. Hopefully it will last long time. My last Panasonic lasted 9 years.

I love this smart microwave and paired it with an echo dot. So convenient and like that it is smart… can sense when items are cooked or defrosted.
