Each comes with a tight-fitting clear plastic lid for storing food inside. To use, the frame is set on the rim of the roaster oven, which is filled half-full with water and then plugged in. The empty serving dishes, inserted into the frame, warm up as the water heats. Cooked food is then added to the serving dishes and the control knob on the oven turned to approximately 250 degrees F for serving. The largest serving dish measures 8-1/4 by 11 by 4-1/2 inches, while the two smaller ones each measure 8-1/4 by 5-3/4 by 4-1/2 inches. I was hesitant to purchase because of a negative review on another site. I am happy to say I bought it anyway. I have the 20 qt oven and this fits perfectly. The compartments are a great size which also allow for versatility regardless of your buffet theme.

I had to return the item because even though it says it fits most GE Roasters, it did not fit mine. I wish it would have had better measurements of the unit and mentioned it had squared corners instead of rounded.
But I was very pleased with the return process offered.

I have a rival 20 quart roaster, and the br400 buffet server fit it perfectly. I used it to keep chicken wings and bratts warm for a super bowl party, and it did a great job. The chicken wings did not dry out like they do when you use a crock pot. Very good product for the price.
